 Screening/Progress-Monitoring

GOAL 3: Developing a Math 'Intervention Menu'. Math teachers who have at their fingertips a range of research-based intervention ideas can better meet the needs of struggling students.

Here are 3 websites with good research-based intervention ideas:

  • Accommodations Finder. This free application allows the user to browse a set of 60+ classroom accommodations to put together a unique plan for a struggling learner.

Here are websites that feature information about Tier 2/3 Math Progreams:

  • Tier 2/3 Intervention Website: What Works Clearinghouse. This website reviews core instruction and intervention programs in mathematics, as well as other academic areas. The site reviews existing studies and draws conclusions about whether specific intervention programs show evidence of effectiveness.
  • Tier 2/3 Intervention Website: Best Evidence Encyclopedia. This site provides reviews of evidence-based math and reading programs. The website is sponsored by the Johns Hopkins University School of Education's Center for Data-Driven Reform in Education (CDDRE) .
GOAL 4: Enlisting the Student as a Motivated, Self-Managing Learner. The teacher who can motivate a struggling student to take increased responsibility for his or her own math learning has a greater likelihood of success.
